Mommy first, pediatrician second

My story

I’m a mom of two who happens to also be a pediatrician. I have spent many a night googling and reading mommy blogs for advice for my own challenges in parenthood. Now a few years in, with a 4 year old and an 17 month old, I feel have grown exponentially as both a mom and as a pediatrician. I want to share my experience of parenting with a background in medicine.

I want to share my experience of parenting with a background in medicine. When making decisions for my children, I cannot help but think about advice from other moms, my training in pediatrics, as well as the experiences and advice of my colleagues in medicine. I cobble together a patchwork of information to make what I hope are the best decisions for my children and my patients.

There is so much mommy-shaming on the internet and in society when in almost all cases, mom’s are just treading water and trying to give their children the best life. I started this blog in an effort to support other moms in finding information to best care for their children.

I will share my own adventures in parenting, with a background of evidence-based medicine and also show how I apply (or not…) these principles to my own life.
